Are you Rich or Poor....

Today is Bijaya dashamai, also known as Dussehra, Dasara or Dashain is the major festival celebrated at the end of Navratri.Devotees put tika on the forehead, pray and burn the effigy of Ravana.

It is the Victory of Good over Evil.

In our organisation we celebrate this day in a different way.We undertake cleaning drive and do thorough cleaning of the departments. We ensure that the unwanted items are disposed off. The building gets a new look as our houses get at the time of Deepawali. On this auspicious day foundation stone for one of our block ie Marwari Maternity was laid in the year 1985. The key members distribute fruits to the patients. On this day housekeeping departments takes the lead role. After  fruit distribution we have delicious "Jalebi", after day's hard work  it's a big feast for us.

This year it is little different, one of our ex HK member lost her life. I remember in the month of August 2020 the housekeeping team came to my office and informed that one of the ex HK staff was not well, she was bed ridden. Her husband died long back. They also informed that she had two children and was nobody to support.I advised them to get her admitted in GMCH and start the medication, but they informed that the family cannot afford treatment even at GMCH. We could not ignore her, it was difficult for me to decide..... After giving a thought I asked the hk staff to bring the ex hk staff to our hospital after discussing with the concerned doctor, and as far as expenses was concerned the hk staff informed that they would collect donations from their neighbours, staff and even I assued them that I would also contribute from my end and also request management to help in this regard.

She was brought in the hospital, after examination doctor recommended her for ICU and hence was admitted in ICU. We were happy at least her medication started under expert doctors. She looked fragile, pale and too weak, had to provide oxygen support , she could hardly speak. Her children came to see her along with other family members. Every day after reaching office the first thing we did was  ask doctors about her health status.

In the meantime we collected money and family members also deposited money against her hospital bill t. We prayed for her...... but destiny  had its own turn ... she could not survive. The management was kind enough and waived off her remaining bills. Our housekeeping staff were real heroes, they supported her with their small amounts whatever they had. A big salute to them.

Hence it is very difficult to define Rich & Poor. There are some people who earn heafty amounts but hardly has the heart to help other (Poor)  but there are people who earn less but has a big heart to help others(Rich).

On this Bijaya Dashami, we missing the lost HK staff but as well said ....Life must go on...... I gave a small amount to housekeeping staff to have "Jalebi", hope it would bring smile on their face.

On this occasion I pray May Maa durga bring Peace, Happiness & Prosperity to all.
