Science Vs Faith

It was 15th day of January 2021, we headed for a journey which we had never dreamt of. We were heading towards Moran, searching for DumorDolong… I know even you would be surprised… we started our journey at around 7.20 am, as it was too early we had packed some snacks so that we can have it on the way. 

We could hardly trace the road it was a foggy day , even the head lights could not pierce the thickness of the fog. After driving for around two hours taking help of google map we reached the destined place. We could see a small mud house few vehicles parked outside we guessed that the space has been arranged for parking and even we parked our vehicle there.   

         After ensuring the safety of the vehicle, we went to the adjacent building which was under construction but it seemed ground floor was complete.. few counters were found open, people were in queue. Posters were displayed on the walls of the corridor. Messages from different religions were displayed through posters, posters depicting historical events, success stories of the institution were also displayed. The experience of the visitors were also described, how they had overcome their sufferings after attending prayers their problems had been solved. Gazing at the posters even we reached the counters. Even we joined the queue, on the counter it was notified that we need to register patient’s name, address, disease we are suffering , problems we are facing and the donations we would make, the registration form had to be filled up with complete information. The staff at the counter took the details and recorded in their registers. They also informed that they should speak out their problems during prayer so that it can be answered. 

Myy husband joined the queue for registration. I heard a person from the queue telling the receptionist that his daughter aged around 24 years had irregular menstrual cycle and was often sick so he had come to get his problems resolved. A lady from Tezpur stated that one of her family member was engaged in a job on temporary basis and hence she wants that his job should be certified permanent. She added one of her child was not good in studies and hence wants him to improve in his studies and come out with bright colours. She also informed that one of her family member was suffering from hypertension, diabetes & also Goiter and she wanted her to recover through prayer. When I turned back I found a lady holding a one month baby, on query she informed that she had come from Sonari , her baby had heart problem and she had come with the belief that her daughter would recover after prayer. During registration they also provided hand book (bible) , leaflets…….. We were informed that we should buy water bottles as well as oil which after prayer can be used as remedial measure. I bought a i/2 ltr water bottle and 50 ml of oil and handed over to my mother in-law who was seating in the prayer hall.. I took a seat outside the hall, I was eager to know the happenings. At around 11 o’clock the screen installed in the prayer hall started. The clippings of religious films were shown where it was shown how lord Jesus suffered at the hands of common people, inspite of that he had no feeling of revenge and still served the suffered people. He forgave the culprits. . After taking water bottle, bottled oil, books & leaflets my mother-in law stepped inside the prayer room. I saw many elderly, young visitors sitting there. Since the windows were open, I could see the hall being occupied. Gradually the hall was filled with the visitors children, young as well as elderly men, women. 

Even I saw a lady who was brought through van, being carried to the prayer hall as she could not walk and was seriously ill Another middle aged women was seen walking towards the prayer hall with the support of chair as she could not stand straight. Gradually the main hall as well the adjacent hall became packed. After waiting for an hour clippings on Jesus Christ were shown his service towards mankind, few clippings were shown, how diseases of some patients were cured. After long wait the Head Mr. Ranjan Chutia occupied the stage. He narrated how we can remain inclined towards positivity, how one can achieve happiness & success in life. He sang praising lord, everybody followed him. The audience were swinging to his mood. After an hour the prayer ended. Some of the people were overwhelmed and their eyes were filled with tears. Slowly the stage got emptied and the hall became thin. People started coming out of the hall, their eyes were filled with hope, the family members waiting outside the hall were happy as they could see the ray of hope. 

Even we started our journey back to our home at Sibsagar, I was silent,. the road seemed endlessly long, working for around 20 years in healthcare industry have seen the magic of medicine, many patients have thanked us , our industry in healing them, making them smile but seeing todays gathering, peoples’ faith “Healing through prayers” have opened a new chapter in healing the pain/diseases of the patients. 

Looking at the faith was difficult to conclude it’s science working or the faith. As a human lets pray together whether it is Science or Faith humans should not suffer and they should be healed.
