Tested Covid positive.......even after vaccination
Tested Covid positive.......even after vaccination.
What is Vaccination:-Vaccination is the administration of a vaccine to help the immune system develop protection from a disease, Vaccines contain a microorganism or virus in a weekend, live or killed state , or proteins or toxins from the organism.
Importance of vaccination:-A vaccine activates our immune system without making us sick. Many dangerous infectious diseases can be prevented in this simple & effective way.
Importance of Covid 19 vaccine:-The Covid 19 vaccines produce protection against the disease, as a result of developing an immune response to the SARS-Cov-2 virus, Developing immunity through vaccination means there is a reduced risk of developing the illness and its consequences, This immunity helps you fight the virus if exposed.
Side effects of Covid 19 vaccine:- Common side effects of the covid-19 vaccination includes fever, chills, fatigue and body aches, these symptoms usually last for 1-2 days and taking paracetamol can reduce the severity of these symptoms in most cases. A paracetamol can be taken for such symptoms.
How long does the coronavirus vaccine last? It is too soon to know how long a vaccine will last. it is currently being researched, different coronavirus vaccines are claiming different levels of immunity against Covid-19.
Types of Covid -19 vaccins:-
1.Covishield 2.Covaxin 3.ZyCoV-D 4.Biological E 5.Mynvax 6.HGCO19 7.Sputnik V
Covishield Vaccine: The Indian version of Oxford-Astra Zenecea Covid-19 vaccine is known as Covishield. Pune-based Serum institute of India, the world's largest vaccine manufacturer by volume, joined hands with AstraZenecea to produce 1 billion doses of its Covid-19 vaccine.
Covid-19 vaccine rollout is set after country's drug controller approved two coronavirus vaccine:-
1. Covishield 2. Covaxin for restricted emergency use as per authorisation on January 3, 2021.
Vaccination is being done in phases because the main aim of the vaccine is to prevent disease, not the infection, the people who are most essential from the services point of view and most vulnerable (elderly & with comorbidities) have been prioritized.
Covishield Vaccination:-
Govt. guidelines for Covishield Vaccination:- In the first phase the health and frontline workers received the vaccination. The gap between the 1st dose and the 2nd dose was 4 to 6 weeks.
From 1st March 2021 till date as per guidelines beneficiaries at the age 60 or above can avail the benefit and beneficiaries with 45 or above with the comorbidities that enhances the risk of mortality in Covid-19 as specified in the list.
Accordingly beneficiaries are availing the facility. The interval between the 1st and 2nd dose of COVISHIELD is 4-6 weeks.
It has been observed that many beneficiaries are eager to take the vaccination but as they don't have any comorbidities they can not take the vaccination.
On 24.03.3021 a new notification was received and according to it EVERYONE WHO IS 45 & ABOVE can be vaccinated irrespective of comorbidities from 1st April 2021 onwards. Moreover the interval between the 1st and 2nd dose of COVISHIELD has been increased to 4 to 8 weeks.
WHO recommends a six weeks interval between two doses.
Efficacy of Covishield vaccine
According to DCGI VG Somani, the efficacy of the vaccine is 70.42 percent, 30% percent of the immunized people are still at the risk of getting the infection. As the trial progresses, the efficacy levels of vaccine can also change.
Tested Covid positive:-Being health care worker we were fortunate to be vaccinated in the first phase . Out of 616 staff around 420 nos. of staff has been vaccinated. We felt safe in handling patients on day to day basis till the incident took place .
On 25th March 2021 it was reported that one of our colleague who was vaccinated with 1st dose of Covishield on 25th January 2021 and 2nd dose on 25th February 2021 was tested corona positive. It was shocking news for us, even after being vaccination for complete two doses, he was tested positive within 30 days of 2nd dose. Why it happened....how it happened...lot of questions arise in our mind......answers are still awaited...
Precautionary steps to be followed even after vaccination:-
1.Wearing Mask
2. Maintaining Social Distance
3. Regular Handwashing
Please note that the interval between 1st and 2nd dose of COVISHIELD should be 4 to 8 weeks. It has been observed that people who are vaccinated are reluctant to use masks, maintain social distancing, frequent handwashing as they consider themselves to be safe but being responsible citizen and in the right earnest the protocol of the safety has to be followed,
Inspite of the hard work of our researchers, it is still uncertain whether "CORONA will rule us or we will rule CORONA"
