Celebrate the world at Marwari Hospitals
“Celebrate the world at Marwari Hospitals”
It was in the year 2009, 16th September I joined this esteem organization as Manager, Marwari Maternity Hospital. I remember I reported to General Manager’s office. After documental verification, one of the officials accompanied me to the Marwari Maternity Hospital Building.
As per the protocol, the Manager of Marwari Hospital and Research Centre (MHRC) currently known as Marwari Hospitals introduced me to the Assistant Manager of Marwari Maternity Hospital. Later he introduced me to the staff of the hospital.
I found myself very young too handle
elderly staff.. nursing team, peon etc.
I had to took few decisions which helped me in
the long run.. I decided to opt for saree or mekhala chaddar as dress code. I also decided to take utmost care of the staff so that they would feely approach me.
Days passed by slowly staff started approaching me, initially some of them were hesitant but later … they reciprocated.
I remember in the month of June, 2010 I was in my office located in the ground floor currently converted to doctor chamber. OPD patients were waiting in the lobby for
the doctors. I heard one of the attendant shouting at one of our staff. I observed for sometime but when he did not stop, I came out of my chamber and
enquired, the attendant stated that his wife had come for antenatal checkup but concerned doctor is not available, he was in OT. He also stated that the patient had to wait long and now she is having some discomfort ..
doctor should be immediately called or she should be shifted to OT. He was also annoyed that the lift was out of order. I contacted the doctor and informed the attendant that the concerned doctor is in OT he has been informed about the patient, he will be coming soon. I told him that thought lift is out of order but arrangement will be made to shift her if required. If
required she can take rest in the OPD Chamber.
The attendant became impatient, he started raising his voice, even other sitting attendants started shouting. The situation
became difficult to handle. In the meantime one of our staff came to the rescue, he made the
attendant understand the situation and also said that he should know how to behave with females. He also assured that though lift is out of order but patient will be taken care of.
I came to my office and thought I should not have gone to make him understand
as he didn’t try to understand…but again we are bound by our duty.
Next day as usual I went for round I visited his cabin also, he stated that he was happy with the services received in this hospital. He also informed that his wife had taken for OT. At this I assured him that every thing will be ok and he should not worry. Though I was upset with him with the previous days incident but was helpless as being manager, I had to face such situation as part of duty.
In the evening I saw him entering my chamber
with a box of sweets. He had guilt feeling of the previous days incident. He smiled and hesitantly informed that his wife had delivered
a healthy baby boy and he was very happy. He offered me sweets. I could not deny him, took the
packet.... and later distributed among the reception staff.
